DHARMA COMMUNITY SERVICE, MTU UNIVERSITY LECTURERS CONDUCT EXTENSION OF WASTE RECYCLING FOR ECONOMIC ADDED VALUE

In order to increase the added value of the community's economy, Mahkota Tricom Unggul University (MTU University) conducted counseling in the form of recycling waste as an added economic value to the community at Jalan Aluminum IV, Tanjung Mulia Hilir Village, Medan Deli District, Medan City, Saturday (5/3).
The Rector of MTU University, Dr. Dompak Pasaribu, SE, M.Si, CPA, CACP explained the dharma of community service activities in the form of counseling on recycling waste to provide added value to the family economy. In addition, the service was continued with the distribution of basic necessities as a form of university concern for the surrounding community. The task of the university is not only to provide education to students, but also to carry out the dharma of community service and research in accordance with the Tridharma of Higher Education.
“In this activity we want to see firsthand the condition of the community around the campus,” he explained.
The Chairperson of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of MTU University, Nasib, S.Pd., M.M explained, this activity with the theme “Increasing Public Understanding of the Importance of Waste Recycling in Adding Economic Value” is part of the dharma of community service carried out by MTU University by involving all lecturers and the academic community of MTU University.
LPPM continues to encourage lecturers to carry out the dharma of community service, so that the community can feel the presence of MTU University, not only as a place for their children to study but also to provide knowledge in increasing the added value of the family economy.
“There are many things that can be done during the Covid-19 Pandemic to add value to the family economy. One of them is recycling waste that is often found around us,” she said.
The Head of MTU University Agribusiness Study Program, Suwandy Purba, S.P, M.Si explained the dharma activities of community service by providing knowledge to the community of making eco enzymes by utilizing rotten fruits.
He said that eco enzyme has many benefits, apart from being a liquid fertilizer, it can also clean polluted river water, clean dirty wells and so on. By utilizing rotten fruits that can be processed for sale.
“Mothers at home can do this to supplement the family economy,” she explains.
This community service dharma activity was led directly by the Rector of MTU University, Dr. Dompak Pasaribu, SE, M.Si, CPA, CACP accompanied by the Head of LPPM Nasib S.Pd, MM, Head of Quality Assurance System Rifai, SE .., M.Si, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Manda Dwipayani Bhastary, SS, M.Si Vice Dean Arsyaf Tampubolon SE, M.Si, Head of Digital Business Study Program Eka Mariyna Theodora SE, MM, Head of Agro Business Study Program Suwandy Purba S.P, M.Si, Head of Accounting Study Program Dewi Rafiah Pakpahan, SE. M.Ak, Head of IT Toras Pangiduan Batubara S.Kom, M.Kom, and all lecturers and staff.
